Foster FAQs

Will I be provided with everything to care for the dog?

We make every effort to provide all needed items to care for the dog while you foster. This may include food, bedding, crate, collar, leash, etc.

Where are your fosters located?

Most of our fosters are within 30 minutes of Loveland, Ohio. This makes it easier to complete necessary appointments, schedule meet and greets, etc.

As a foster, what should I be prepared to do?

Our foster homes are where the dogs really start developing their personalities. We need fosters to be loving and sometimes patient. Work with the dogs on basic commands, routines, etc. We may ask if you are available to help transport for things like vetting, spay/neuter, however we do have transport help so it is not always necessary. A lot depends on how  much you want to do or are able to do.

What if I decide to keep the dog?

We love it when people fall in love and “foster-fail”! We do ask that you complete the adoption application. The process to adopt is more detailed than the process to foster. We would need to verify you are a good forever fit and meet the adoption requirements.

Can I take the dog to my vet while fostering?

NO! Paws for Miles is responsible for the medical needs of the dog. We have partnered with a number of area vets to ensure the dogs are up to date on all vaccines and are spayed/neutered. We have to keep detailed records. Do not take your foster to a vet without prior approval from PFM.

I love my groomer! Is it okay for me to take my foster to be groomed?

Paws for Miles will handle any grooming appointments with our already approved partners. Do not make any appointments without approval from PFM. If you want to bathe your dog while in your care, we do suggest just using blue Dawn dish soap.
